Friendship
During the past two years my best friend and I have become closer and closer. I do not think we could be even closer to each other than we are now. Before my leaving to the USA I knew it would be hard not to see her every day and not to talk to her every day. But I did not know it would be as hard as it is.
When I got to South Carolina, even if I did not realize it, I have been looking for someone with some certain similarities to her. Now I know that no one can replace her. We grew up together, we have changed together and we know almost everything about ourselves. I think our friendship is something totally amazing and no one can steal it from us. Even the long distance cannot.
A true friend is someone who would not ever betray you, who would not ever steal something from you, or who would not ever forget you. A true friend is someone who makes you feel better when you are having a bad day and who makes you smile even if you feel really down.
A few days ago I had one of the happiest days I have ever had since I have been here. My best friend sent me a huge box for Christmas. I cannot even imagine how much only the shipping cost. When I opened it, I almost started to cry. The box was full of my favorite Czech Christmas cookies, which she made. There was a big heart made of the cinnamon bread which she bought for me during the town´s fair, a necklace, some Czech magazines and a letter which she wrote for me. Since then I have read the letter many times and every time it makes me feel as happy as I was the day when I was reading it for the first time.
So who is a true friend? A true friend is someone who I fully trust and who I cannot live without. A true friend is my best friend who is waiting for me somewhere far far away over the ocean in the Czech Republic and who I cannot wait to see again.
